On a mission to nurture the creativity and wellbeing of all makers through the fiber arts, the healing arts as we like to call them. Not local, no problem!

Michigan Fine Yarns is a BIPOC family business located in Livonia, MI. We're a small team passionate about creating a warm and welcoming environment for all makers. Step into our unique shop to be surrounded by the beautiful colors and luxurious textures of a vast selection of high quality yarns from around the world. We offer fine yarns in wool, silk, cashmere, Angora, alpaca, cotton, bamboo, linen, soy, recycled fibers, and more. You'll find a wide range of hand-painted fibers as well as knitting and crochet books, patterns, needles and hooks, notions, and unique knitting and crochet kits. Ask us all about our store samples too! Join us for a cup of tea and crafting with friends in our comfortable seating areas. We offer knitting, crochet, and weaving classes year around along with fun workshops and events! We welcome you to browse our online store from the comfort of your home and explore your favorites! It was a true pinch-me moment when we heard from the wonderful team at Laine Publishing that Michigan Fine Yarns would be featured in an upcoming issue!

We have a PREORDER open for Laine Publishing’s “Knitted Kalevala III” with patterns by Jenna Kostet. This exciting collection is the final of a beloved trilogy of books and features 18 colorwork designs from classic yokes to modern motifs. There are a variety of projects to choose from as well as a range of detail and intricacy to engage knitters of all skill levels!

Karen knit the Maine Beanie by Nancy Bates using malabrigo Rios, and we can’t stop staring! The colorwork is fantastic, the stitch definition crisp and the textured flower bushes…swoon worthy! 😍 You can find individual patterns for all fifty states via Ravelry or watch for the book Knitting the U.S.A to be on our shelves soon! Meet Brisa, the newest yarn from malabrigo! 🧶 A soft, airy blend of 60% merino wool, 30% cupro, and 10% silk, with a fluid drape and subtle sheen, you’ll love it for sweaters, scarves, slipovers and more!

Cupro - a fiber derived from cotton-processing byproducts - provides the drape. Silk gives us a sophisticated sheen, and of course, the merino wool adds softness, structure and warmth for a blend is as lovely to work with as it is to wear!

The Kaffe Fassett x Rowan Signature Squares Blanket knit along has begun!

The first pattern release (of eight total) is the Zig Zag - a bold, vibrant, striping design that was inspired by Kaffe’s iconic ZigZag Jacket featured in Rowan Magazine 8. The pattern also pays homage to his more recent ZigZag Scarf.

This blanket is a celebration of color and pattern that brings together some of designer Kaffe Fassett's most iconic designs! The pattern calls for 12 bold shades of Rowan Yarns’s Alpaca Soft DK, and we have kits available in the shop and ready to ship!

Step-by-step tutorials, Zoom meetups, and a welcoming community provide support throughout the project, making it an enjoyable introduction to intarsia as well as an opportunity for experienced colorwork knitters to explore Kaffe Fassett’s distinctive creative vision.
