Wow! The magnificent library inside the palace!
The Palace of Mafra (Portuguese: Palácio de Mafra), also known as the Palace-Convent of Mafra and the Royal Building of Mafra (Real Edifício de Mafra), is a monumental Baroque and Neoclassical palace-monastery located in Mafra, Portugal, some 28 kilometres from Lisbon. Construction began in 1717 under King John V of Portugal and was completed in 1755.
The palace was classified as a National Monument in 1910 and was also a finalist in the Seven Wonders of Portugal. On 7 July 2019, the Royal Building of Mafra – Palace, Basilica, Convent, Cerco Garden and Hunting Park (Tapada) was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Wow! First it's the intricate carved woodwork that hits me with the John Paine Mansion. Second the darkness makes me think a perfect home for a vampire. Your thoughts?
The John Paine Mansion, also known as The Castle, was built in 1896 by John Welles Paine, a wealthy financier and attorney. It is recognized as a Gilded Age masterpiece and has served various purposes, including a private residence, a college administrative building, and a fraternity house. The mansion is located at 49 Second Street, Troy, NY, and is currently under restoration by the Paine Castle Foundation, which aims to preserve its historical significance and architectural beauty. The mansion is notable for its eclectic style, intricate woodwork, and Spanish tile roof, making it a significant example of Gilded Age architecture in New York.

Every now and then you get a project that's a little different. This client did not like walking into her new living room and have your eye go directly to the opening between the kitchen and the living room. She has lots of art work and felt that view distracted from the works. I did a translucent roller shade for the opening. We installed it on the kitchen side. She was thrilled with the new look!
