John Dunn Shops Welcome to the John Dunn Shops located in the heart of the Taos Historical District.

Located in the heart of Taos, New Mexico, the John Dunn Shops line a beautiful pedestrian walkway linking Bent Street and the historic Taos Plaza.

20 unique, independently and locally owned shops and eateries offer something for everyone - handmade leather goods, uncommon fabrics, books, kitchen supplies, fossils and minerals, antique maps and manuscripts, New Mexico art & crafts, beautiful comfortable shoes and boots, Mexican folk art, jewelry, fine yarns and fiber crafts, and contemporary and southwestern fashions for men and women. Two galleries feature the arts and crafts of local artisans. The John Dunn House, on the National Historic Register, was the home of one of Taos' most colorful characters. Stroll in John Dunn's garden, visit with locals and shopkeepers, sit by the shaded fountain, listen to local musicians, meet local artists at their easels, sip a cappuccino or fresh fruit smoothie... and in summer, enjoy sweet or savory crepes or Asian noodles from one of our outdoor food carts. All-day parking directly across Placitas Road welcomes visitors, and the Bent Street Cafe and Deli, Coffee Cats, a bubbling fountain, and beautiful landscaping invite you to enjoy a leisurely day. Let’s make some noise for Taos’ next generation. 🎺

Taos Middle School Mariachi opens our Día de los Mu***os gathering at 4 PM this Sunday at John Dunn Shops.

Come cheer them on, make something colorful, and share an evening of music, community and remembrance.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2026
4–8 PM • JOHN DUNN SHOPS, TAOS

Explore the communal ofrenda, face painting, sugar skull painting and vendor activities.

Stay for the parade at 5:30 PM and Mariachi El Tigre at 6:15 PM.

Hot chocolate and biscochitos offered while supplies last.

Bring someone who makes this place feel like home.

HALLOWEEN | PAINT • TREAT • PLAY 🎨🍬

A little color, a little candy, and an afternoon together in the courtyard.

Bring the kids to John Dunn Shops this Halloween to help create a shared paint-by-numbers mural based on original artwork by local artist Sara Kollig. Young painters can add their brushstrokes, families can stop by for a candy handout, and everyone can enjoy a little time together in the heart of Taos.

Come through, Taos. We’ll see you in the courtyard.

Join us at the John Dunn Shops for our Labor Day Weekend Summer Send-Off on Sunday, September 6th from 12–4 PM.
