Maybe a lot of people don't agree, but I think Vinita is a great place to live. I was 22 when I bought my first house in Tulsa. It was in a respectable working class neighborhood. Not nice and full of pricey homes, but simple and full of decent people going about their business. Over the next 20 years, older folks died off and their progeny rented out their inheritances. Simple humble homes became inhabited by outsiders who just needed a place to get by for several months to a year. Abandoned houses became inhabited by unknown and unfriendly transients. By the time we left in 2020, it was nothing to hear gunshots and see gang graffiti.

When we got back to Vinita, it was just the same as I had always known it. Not perfect, but still a place we can go for a walk at night without needing to carry a weapon. When I left, it took little time before I couldn't wait to be back. Even when it changes, it doesn't really change. I love this town.

If you're a resident of Vinita who is content to go about your own business without troubling others, if you can still wave at someone you don't know but see everyday, if you frequent local businesses and churches, drive your kids to school without any public traffic freakouts, look out for kids about town, and whatever other kindnesses you perform that nobody notices, you are part of this. You are freaking awesome. Thank you for doing your part in making Vinita what it is just by being you.

It’s Market Day and Kids Day!

Bring the kids out to the Rogers County Farmers Market this morning!

The first 50 kids will receive $5 to spend at the market! We’ll also have pumpkin painting and pumpkin bowling for the kids to enjoy.

A big thank you to M&M Enterprise for sponsoring Kids Day and helping us make this a fun morning for our local families!

While the kids are having fun, stop by and shop with our vendors. We’ve got fresh produce, eggs, baked goods, handmade items, and plenty more!

We’ve been a little quiet this week, but for good reason!

Our social media team has been busy behind the scenes getting vendors lined up for our Holiday Markets, and we can’t wait for you to see who’s joining us!

But don’t forget, we’ve still got our regular Saturday market coming up! Come see us at the Rogers County Courthouse from 8 AM to noon and shop with your favorite local vendors.

Wooooo! Our favourite seasonal event is here! We're so glad to be doing an event in our home town & county again!

Vinita Oktoberfest is a great family event. Drop by tomorrow for some great food, Oktoberfest l***r, live music, games for the kids, and some great local arts & crafts vendors.

Make sure to pick up a few bars of Craig County Soap to wash away the sweat, bratwurst grease, & the shame of getting caught on video doing the chicken dance.

Missus JW & JW Jr will be manning the booth in the morning & I will be there after Roger's County Farmers' Market. Hope to see you there!

Good morning Grand Lake folk! It's a lovely cool, even chilly morning for the last day of Grove Farmers Market.

We're here this morning with plenty of Craig County Simple Soap & Garden Hands. Stock up today as the market doesn't open again until next May. Of course you can always order online at www.jwsuffridge.com We have very reasonable shipping rates & we will also deliver for free if you can give us a Vinita address to meet at.

This has been a phenomenal year for us. The support & patronage we've received at this market has brought us to a new level of business that we hadn't anticipated yet. It's been so awesome to meet so many cool people & customers. Thank you so much with fullness of heart! We can't wait to see you again next season.

We took a break from markets yesterday to attend KAMO Family Day at Silver Dollar City. Due to his jocular teasing of me not wanting to ride things that require extra faith in science & may tempt Providence, my son is now my favourite smart aleck. Got a new pumpkin-themed thing for the mantle & 4Lbs of taffy. Watched my favourite people have fun. Walked 7 miles & am not sore today. Dined in at Pizza Hut for the first time in close to 20 years.

It was a great day & I don't regret lost sales or missed business opportunities.

Good morning, Northeast Oklahoma! It is so humid today, but still cooler & lovely. Because Oklahoma is lovely. Yup, humid, but tolerable. And that smell of Autumn is in the air. You know what I'm describing; scent of old falling leaves & the earth preparing for a cooler quieter season. We are anxiously awaiting the equinox & cooler temperatures.

We are setup for another weekend at the bustling Rogers County Farmers Market & Grove Farmers Market this morning of September 12. Little Miss JW is at Grove with Missus JW while JW Lad rests from being sick this week.

We are mostly back in stock with Simple Soap, but are preparing for yet another large production run to cover the holiday season. We scored a really good deal on some base oil & will be melting, mixing, pouring, & saponifying for the reat of this month & maybe into October. Thank you for your business! Can't say it enough.

Come out to either of these markets & pick up some fresh produce, meat, honey, sourdough bread, preserves, & of course some handmade lye soap to wash away the day & your hands before dinner. This ain't Great Granny's blinding, burning lye soap. It is gentle, foamy, & priced for everyday use for everday people.
