What August looks like at the Farmeow 🐈⬛🐈⬛
We’ve been harvesting cherry tomatoes every day. We’ve shared some with family and friends and frozen some for the winter months. Flowers are still going strong, especially the zinnias. They’re about 4–6” in diameter!
We see so many butterflies in the garden. The kitties are in heaven, but I try not to let them out in the morning so the birds and hummingbirds can enjoy their breakfast in peace.
My favorite fruit, aka ground cherries, is finally ripe this month. Nasturtiums are exhausted from the heat and on their way out. Peppers are happy, but there just isn’t enough heat here, so the plants stay quite small while still being productive. Roses continue to bloom, and we have SO many summer squashes. I feel like most of our meals always have some sort of squash in them. 😂
Jewel eggplants are working hard and producing so many cute little eggplants. However, all in all, my biggest pride and joy is LUFFA!!!! We ate some of the young ones, but I definitely want the big ones to stay on the vine so they can turn brown and dry and become natural sponges!
I can’t wait to use them to clean dishes and shower with. Hopefully we have enough supplies for the whole year, or more. Have you tried this eco-friendly and naturally biodegradable sponge?
