I think spring is the season where people start craving colour again.

Suddenly beige feels a little tired. You want freshness.
Energy. Something that feels alive again.

This green from hits that sweet spot perfectly. It’s vibrant enough to make a space feel lively, but not so bold that you get tired of looking at it six months later.

And, I especially love shades like this in unexpected places. We used it in the laundry room at our Olive project and suddenly felt fun to walk into.

Those little moments matter more than people think. The spaces we use every day should feel good too, not just the rooms guests see.

Harriet was the most girly-girl of the bunch at the time, so this room started with one very specific feeling in mind: soft, magical, cozy, and just a little bit princess-y without tipping into overly themed or frilly.

And funny enough, she had very strong opinions about it too. Plum, grey, and white were her dream combination, and we fully agreed. It gave the room that perfect balance between youthful and sophisticated.

The room itself had challenges. It sits above the garage and the ceiling slopes down right over the bed, which could’ve easily made the whole space feel cramped. So instead of fighting it, we leaned into it. That pale pink gauzy canopy completely changed the feeling of the room. Suddenly the lower ceiling felt intentional. Cozy. Cocoon-like.

Good design often comes down to moments like that:
turning awkward architecture into something that feels special.

People often assume custom-looking spaces always require fully custom budgets. They really don’t.

In our bedroom, we made a very intentional decision to use IKEA wardrobes. Functionally, they worked perfectly and helped us prioritize budget elsewhere in the renovation. But visually, I knew I didn’t want standard flat-pack doors to become the first thing we saw every morning.

So instead of scrapping the idea entirely, we got creative. Anthony Valin, — — an incredible Toronto artist and maker, transformed the doors using layered canvas and plaster techniques that created this soft, textured finish with beautifully imperfect edges.

Now the wardrobes feel sculptural and completely unique.

There’s a fine line between a bathroom feeling warm and inviting, or feeling flat and forgettable.

And most of that comes down to contrast.

In this space, we kept the overall palette soft and neutral, then layered in sharper moments to give the room definition.

The dramatic veining in the stone.
The darker plumbing fixtures.
The warmth of the brass hardware.

Those details keep the room from blending into one beige blur.

It’s usually the balance people struggle with most during renovations. They want personality, but they’re scared of making expensive mistakes.

That’s where thoughtful design guidance matters most.

Jenn and I immediately connected over style on this project.

She loved design, but the house never really felt like them. It had that very builder-basic feeling where nothing was technically wrong, but nothing felt personal either. So the goal became creating a home that felt polished, layered, and relaxed all at once.

The living area is one of my favourite examples of that balance. Sculptural furniture. Brass lighting. Rounded forms. Neutral palette. Even the blush chairs were chosen to soften the room and tuck beautifully into the bay window..

A few days in New York with my sister working on a very special new project we’re collaborating on together.

A few days together looked like:
– obsessing over marble slabs
– debating wood tones on the floor
– collecting material samples we definitely didn’t need more of
– testing mattresses very professionally
– and walking away feeling really excited about what we’re creating together

There’s something really special about getting to work on projects together, especially when you both care this much about creating beautiful, deeply personal spaces… and honestly, getting to do this together makes the whole process even more meaningful (and a lot more fun).

I think the things that make a home feel the most personal are usually the little things people almost overlook.

The art you picked up somewhere meaningful. A bowl you always reach for. Books, objects, old pieces, things that remind you of someone or somewhere.

Not because they “match” perfectly, but because they make the house feel like you.

I love beautiful design, obviously, but I think the homes people feel happiest in are the ones that tell little stories about the people living there.

That’s usually what makes a space feel warm, layered, and joyful in the end.

Small condos ask a lot from one space. Kitchen. Dining area. Living room. Storage. Hosting area. Quiet night-in space.

In Emma’s 800-square-foot Toronto condo, that became the biggest design challenge. The goal wasn’t just making it look good — it was making the entire space feel easier to live in. So instead of visually separating every function, we focused on flow and flexibility.

The dining nook was built into the layout to save space while still feeling comfortable enough to linger in. Rounded furniture keeps movement easy, which matters more than people realize in a smaller footprint. And in the living area, we chose softer, sculptural pieces that feel cozy and inviting without visually weighing the space down.

Before we get into finishes or furniture, we spend time figuring out how you want your home to feel.

Not just what you like, but what you’re drawn to, what feels right, what you want to experience in your space every day.

That’s what shapes the Vibe Book.

One light source is almost never enough in a getting-ready space.

Overhead lights flatten everything.
Mirror lights alone can feel too focused.
And without shelf lighting, display items disappear.

So we layered it. Lighting inside the shelves to highlight my client's collection of handbags. Lighting at the mirror so she's putting on makeup in proper light.

Individually, they each solve a problem. Together, they create a space that feels effortless to use.
