Scandinavian autumn VS UK autumn, is there really a difference?

Autumn is one of our favourite time of the year where ever you are. But with our love of all things Scandinavian we can't help but look at the season with through a Nordic lens.

Think, crisp walks, golden leaves, natural textures, slowing down, soft lighting and those lovely evenings where all you want to do is light a candle, make a warm drink and get cosy. This gets called in Denmark hygge, a special autumn cosiness.

And in the UK? A cup of tea, wrapping up warm for a walk and coming home to the heating on.

Different traditions but the same appreciation for the little things in the season.
Do you prefer Scandinavian autumn or UK autumn or maybe a mix of both?

These two little nisse are off to their new home today. One with a heart and the other a porridge bowl, not a candle holder as some people assume. Danish nisse are mythical creatures from Nordic folklore. They’re associated with the winter solstice and Christmas season. They’ve appeared in Scandinavian literature and folklore. They must be treated well otherwise they may cause mischief. Give them a bowl of porridge and they will be pleased. They live in the attic so place your bowl of porridge nearby. Nordicana Homewares

It’s good to enjoy the current season. An afternoon spent making apple, cinnamon and honey roses brought the smells of autumn into the kitchen.
