In my last post, I said I’d find a traditional garden design rug, and of course the iconic garden Bakhtiari started appearing in my dreams 🤍
Woven by the Bakhtiari tribes of the Zagros Mountains in southwestern Iran, these rugs are an expression of the Persian Garden Panel (Kheshti) tradition. Their fields are divided into compartments filled with individual garden motifs - cypress trees, roses, birds and flowers - arranged in either square grid or lattice formations, as seen here.
The timeless design has been woven for generations and is still being made today. Traditionally woven by women, they are a true celebration of Mother Nature.
Last slide is a video of our garden in Iran where my mind will always go when I close my eyes on these carpets.
