🎖️ MEDAL MOUNTING FOR REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY 🎖️

We're getting busy with medal mounting orders now, so if you're planning to wear your medals this Remembrance Sunday, please don't leave it until the last minute!

📅 FINAL DEADLINE: FRIDAY 30TH OCTOBER

Medals received by this date will be ready for collection in the shop on Saturday 7th November onwards, in time for Remembrance Sunday.

However, (and I can't really stress this enough!) the sooner you get them to us, the better, as we're getting increasingly busy and would recommend getting in ASAP.

We offer professional medal mounting by an experienced ex-regimental tailor, with two options available:

🎖️ Court mounting: £10 per medal
🎖️ Swing mounting: £8 per medal
🎖️ Ribbon brooch bars: £3 per ribbon

Whether you're preparing your medals for Remembrance Sunday, a parade or another special occasion, we'll make sure they're looking their best.

You probably know us best for British medals and military badges, but over the years we’ve also accumulated a fair amount of medals and awards from around the world.

And, if we’re honest, there’s rather a lot of money tied up in it! 😬

We’re getting offered so much great new stock at the moment, and we hate having to turn good collections away, so we’ve decided it’s time try and help things along by having a bit of a sale.

Included in the sale:

🇨🇦 A WW2 medal that wasn't actually instituted until 1981.

During the WW2 Newfoundland was a still a separate British colony, it didn't join Canada until 1949. This meant that Newfoundlanders who volunteered for service during the war fell outside the eligibility for Canada's Volunteer Service Medal.

The Newfoundland Volunteer Service Medal was created in 1981, to recognise those who had volunteered and served in the war but didn't receive a volunteer service medal from another country. Eligible service included the British Imperial Forces, Newfoundland Overseas Forestry Unit, Merchant Navy and Newfoundland Regiment.

Only around 7,500 medals were awarded, including those issued to next of kin, making this a scarce medal.

The obverse features the George VI cypher with a crown surmounted by a caribou (the national emblem for Newfoundland).

The medal was struck in bronze by the Royal Mint and, unusually, each medal is individually numbered on the rim.

🇨🇦 A fascinating piece of Newfoundland's wartime history, and a great medal for collectors of Commonwealth and WW2 awards.

We’ve just had a big lot of new coins come into the shop.
There’s a really good mix, including some very nice-condition early silver, lots of proof coins and Royal Mint sets

Plenty to have a rummage through, and we’ll be adding more as we get through everything.

One for our local history enthusiasts.

Just over the road from us in our old home Corn Exchange Doncaster.

Don't forget to pop and say hello to us too if your going!

Local History Fair

This great event is open in the Corn Exchange this Saturday from 9am to 3pm. Run by the Doncaster and District Heritage Association in partnership with the Council there are a number of heritage groups having stands there.

Pop down and have a look, buy some merchandise and even join the groups, some subscriptions are less than 2 coffees from the coffee shop!

Can’t believe how quickly this has come around again! This Sunday is the Wakefield Medal Fair at Outwood Memorial Hall 🎖️

⏰ Doors open at 8:00am – approximately 12:30pm

We’re bringing loads of new stock along again, including plenty that hasn’t made it onto the website yet.

We’re being a little selective about what we bring due to car sapce, so if there’s anything in particular you’re hoping to see, let us know beforehand.

Don't forget to get There Early! ⏰ the best pieces can disappear quickly and it wraps up early this one, so it’s well worth getting there first thing.

National Police Memorial Day - Sunday 27th September

Today we remember the police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

Behind every name on the Roll of Honour is a person. Someone’s husband, wife, mum, dad, son, daughter, brother, sister or friend. People who went to work to serve and protect their communities, and never came home.

More than 4,600 officers are recorded on the Police Roll of Honour, today the police family will gather to remember them.

We regularly handle police badges, medals and other pieces of policing history, and behind so many of these items are stories of real people. Days like this are an important reminder that those stories, and the people behind them, should never be forgotten.

We remember the fallen.
We remember their families.
We remember their service.
We will not forget. 🕯️
