We sell our pieces across the UK at events such as; MCM London Expo, MCM Manchester Expo and more recently Yorkshire Cosplay Con. We specialize in making gel candles, beeswax candles and frothy wax candles. Behind the scenes 👀, the stuff I would never dream of posting

So what happens when a whatnot stream doesn’t go to plan? 😬

✨Over the past few weeks I’ve noticed a drop in viewers, engagement in chat and sales for the Saturday morning show.
✨What you’ll see - I’ll carry on talking to chat even when it’s only me and the show lasting for an hour. For me this gives me data on what to do next and anything that could be affecting the stream like signal quality.

✨What you don’t see straight after a stream - I’ll go eat and decompress before packing away the show set up. I find it mentally tiring making conversation by myself for an hour.

✨A few days after - I’ll look at the analytics, how many times was the show viewed, what was the highest number of people watching at one time and how much the show was booked marked. I have a list of variables to test.

🌟Then the testing begins🌟
Change one variable per test and compare the results. This takes a month minimum. Keep what works and drop what doesn’t. I’ll work through the stages of bookmarking a show, attending a show, follows and engagement in the chat to sales. There’s no point changing what affects sales if people aren’t bookmarking and attending shows in first place. It’s also the reason I’ll stay on a quiet show for the minimum of an hour, I need that consistent data.

✨When does the testing stop?
Short answer - never. My audience’s needs change therefore I will with them.
From a quiet show to an improving show?
When the chat is lively, a handful of regulars pop in weekly and I’m in a good place to stay engaging. Sales will naturally flow from this. 😁

🧐Remember - buyers do not owe you anything, sellers are here to fulfil buyers needs and desires.

Between the whatnot shows, work and another project. Plans are slowly being drawn for new wax melt sets for this year including: Jar of f*cks, hazbin hotel themed set, critical role themed set, fairy core set and witches set.

1st month of whatnot - what is it like?

First I’m glad I spent January testing out different variables.
This included my set up, lighting, different WiFi and phone data combinations and what days and times worked for me.
My last Friday show in January ended up being a big success thanks to all the testing.
A few other things I’ve learnt over the past month and a bit.
✨ Have some kind of music on in the background, for me I get awkward really fast talking in silence to a camera.
✨ Label every order, have bags easy to grab. This made packing orders after a show so much easier.
✨Be social, show up for people in your niche/community and be active in the chats.
✨If it’s quiet, it’s okay to finish a show early. From having a tolerance of quiet market days and people being dismissive of my products. If I’ve been talking to myself for hour and had no interest or sales, I will finish and raid a show. It’s not worth burning myself or complaining it’s quiet (please do not do that, it’s really off putting), I’m better using that time to look over data and start packing orders.

✨Next steps? I’m running the next test of buying in stock and making fresh stock for February and March to see how it goes. Right now I’m enjoying being both a buyer and a seller.✨

First whatnot show ✅ DONE
It was a good experience, made some sales to some lovely people. People watching were patient with me when having to change shipping profiles on the fly.

I’m looking forward to trying out some more shows at different times and different themes over the next few weeks 🌞✨🔮

I’m joining in on the wrapped trend! Also because I like data. Parma Violet still remains my top selling fragrance with Tavern scent not too far behind. The surprise was seeing Cancer in 3rd place, this was one scent I was expecting to replace with it being so delicate compared to the likes of Aries, Scorpio and Gemini.
