Our fortnightly Community Craft Club group would like to invite you to “Craft for a Cause” . This year our nominated grass roots initiative is the Hackney Night Shelter

⭐️Come and join us and get hands on, crafting textile star decorations / bag charms to be included in our forthcoming “Starrey Night” festive window display. We will be accepting “pledges” for the stars to fund raise for the Hackney Night Shelter, who rely on donations to keep the shelter open all 365 days of the year.

⭐️ Star symbolism transcends time and space, across different cultures, traditions and belief systems and have become universal signs of guidance, hope, mystery, and human connection. Stars are among the oldest symbols known to humans, twinkling not just in the night sky but appearing in art, religion, and folklore worldwide.

⭐️ The sewcials are free to attend. There will be a selection of fabric offcuts, trims, sparkle, embroidery threads & needles to get creative with, templates will be available to get you started. There will also be opportunity to learn some new techniques and get inspired by short demos, skill sharing and support.
All levels of crafting ability welcomed!

Heads, hands , needles & toes, needles and toes! A great mending double bill weekender supporting several new menders to pick up the needle and thread and embark on the repair road!

On Saturday I was invited to host a “Mend it Loud” session alongside Patricia Murphy with East London Waste Authority in Barking Riverside thewilds_barkingriverside First time in this “new” neighbourhood and beautiful eco venue.

On Sunday, it was my monthly “Grandma’s Hands” at Fabrications - an introduction to key hand sewing stitches for garment repairs - fabric items in the morning and woollens in the afternoon.

Thank You to all who joined - for your presence and enthusiasm. It’s always a joy and privilege.

Calling London based sewists! (that have your own sewing machine)
What better way to celebrate by treating your beloved sewing machine to some TLC!
Join local Jennie Caminada on Saturday 17th October and learn how to service & repair your own sewing machine. This is a super practical and empowering workshop that everyone that uses a sewing machine needs to join!!! Although places are limited to max. 8 participants!)

🗓️ Saturday 17th October (International Repair Day) 10:30am - 1pm

Loved supporting Lauren and Rodi’s enthusiasm and creativity in a recent “Beginners Sewing 1” class.

💚♻️We are OPEN again! ♻️💚

After a short summer break to refresh, renew, reset - the shop, workshop and mySelf are full of sparkle and looking forward to sharing some moments with you!

It’s also back to school for our classes this weekend, starting with “Grandma’s Hands” (intro to hand sewing repairs) & Beginners Sewing 1 - there are a couple of places still available if you’re feeling spontaneous!

Recent happy customer! “Good things come to those who wait” edition

This top is PatchReWorked from shirt sleeves. I actually made it last year and is a personal favourite, however for some reason, the piece didn’t sell and find a new home!
Now I know why, because it was made for Anabel who brought it to life on a recent visit.

Recent happy customers! Garment Edition

Slide 1: It was mutual appreciation with these lovely cow people! Holly Holly Spillar loved the PatchReWorked shirt top with boatneck button opening, ribbed waistband and sleeve ties.

Slide 2: “Unity” PatchReWorked sweatshirt going to a good home

Slide 3: Fonzil literally snapped up these Suit sleeve shorts as soon as they went out on the rail - a perfect fit but I did need to make the pocket bags deeper as “he carries everything in his pockets”

Slide 4: PatchReWorked knitwear samples (donated by a customer who worked previously as a buyer for Mulberry and couldn’t bear seeing samples being thrown away) paired with jogging pants sleeves. This cosy item will be appreciated come Autumn/Winter.

As with these beautiful souls, each item I make is a one off, upcycled with joy and care, in house at Fabrications, from would be waste clothing and textiles.

Recent happy customers! Bag edition!

Slide 1: Joe Joe Yonan chose a classic holster style bag, remade from a suit jacket. A gift and practical souvenir for his husband from a London trip. Thank You for all your compliments and beautiful presence.

Slide 2: Magda was drawn to the turquoise stitch texture of this reused piece of furnishing sample. The rest of the bag is patchworked stitch samples from my sewing classes. The handles are vintage ties. Thank You for recognising that this bag was made for you!

Slide 3: Krysztof loved the PatchReWorked suiting holster. Thank You for kindly gifted me some of your own artwork - spirits of nature affirmation / message cards, which I’ve been re distributing as suggested!

Slide 4: A giant holster PatchReWorked cross body bag with suit waist band strap was selected by SH LEE - Thank You for recognising a handy “keep safe” item accessory that will come in handy during DJ sets and travelling!

Much like each soul that is drawn to my work, each piece is one off, upcycled from would be waste garments, textiles and studio offcuts, made with joy and care in house at Fabrications.
