Jazz Bolt Action from UK Pen Blanks wrapped in Mulea, Sonokeling, Wild Manga and Philippine Lacewood. I like the additional element of the bolt action on top of the standard click feature of these pen kits. Finished with Loxkin and just waiting for a wax coat.

I managed to source some Pratchett pen kits which originally come from TaylorsMirfield.co.uk (I have 2 more to turn). These kits are such nice pens and this first one is paired up with some Honduran Walnut (first time using this wood). Finished with h**p oil and wax. I’m back on for a while in prep for upcoming events so there’ll be plenty more to come.

I’ve done so much work over last month on prepping future projects so I treated myself to a turn of some spalted beech. The colour and character came out of nowhere, helped with h**p oil. Really pleased with this one !

Sometimes the wood dictates the shape… this piece of the tree from had a gnarly chunk missing from it so I got a bit creative with the design. Really pleased with the ‘undercut’ on this and the consistency of the wall thickness has made this a really nice piece. Finished with h**p oil and now just waiting to dry.

This is the biggest piece of the tree that I got from Beeston Parish Church recently. I have 1 more piece to process and put to dry but this one I wanted to get to final finish. I know it will move and warp as it dries but that’s when it gets interesting as it finds its own shape. I also carved a large spoon from the off cuts. This is one area I need more practice but it’s not too bad and makes a decent set. Finished with h**p oil for a great, natural look that really suits the bowl. So much work gone into this project as a whole and now it’s mostly down to waiting…to be continued.
