Back to school today. First day of a new term for both kids — and in a way, for me too.
Flower deliveries this morning, then back to a quiet house. First minute I’ve had to myself in ages. No one asking where their swim shorts or school shoes are, just a coffee and a chance to breathe.
There’s still masses to do — enquiries to answer, stems to count, admin, and next year to think about. But none of that has to happen today.
Before the flowers, and after the corporate life, I trained as a yoga teacher. The physical practice fell away years ago, but I still find myself drawn back to the mindful side of it — trying to live in the moment more, rather than always looking ahead.
It’s the beginning of September and the season isn’t over. Plenty more still to bloom — I’m not going to name check anything and tempt fate — but this morning’s buckets give a flavour of what’s still to come.
