It was a little strange not having the carers popping in for a workshop last night.
Since November, most Tuesday evenings have been given over to groups organised by Carers Gateway as part of their Time Out Tuesdays project. The first group attended monthly and was so well received that a further two fortnightly groups were established, meaning we spent 18 wonderful weeks welcoming carers through our doors.
Together we've explored essential oils, herbal teas, natural skincare and simple relaxation techniques. We've got creative with decoupage, talked about ways to support wellbeing through journalling, shared plenty of cups of tea and conversation, and enjoyed some wonderfully relaxing sound baths along the way.
One thing you'll notice is that we don't have lots of photographs from these sessions. That's a conscious choice. Honeybee Cottage has always been a place where people can relax, switch off and simply enjoy the experience without feeling they need to be on camera. The memories, conversations, laughter and connections made during those evenings are far more important than any photograph.
A huge thank you to Carers Gateway for the opportunity to be part of this project and for the incredible work they do supporting unpaid carers across our community. Most of all, thank you to every carer who joined us. It has been a privilege to spend time with you, hear your stories and provide a little space that was just for you.
We wish you all the very best and hope to see some familiar faces back at Honeybee Cottage soon. π
