Where we swam, ate & stayed in Corfu ☀️

Visiting Corfu at the very end of the season felt like a bit of a gamble. Would we get the weather? Would the tavernas and local businesses still be open? But I hoped the quieter atmosphere and lower prices would make it worthwhile - and for us, they absolutely did.

If you’ve considered a late-season trip too, hopefully this is helpful:-

Let’s work on this together. I’ve got something I’d like to share with you, we can sit down and have a chat…

Emerging from somewhere in the subconscious, I’m slowly, but consciously recognising that my interiors have long been a canvas for how I approach life (and particularly the expectations we place on ourselves, and those of society) - with independence. A sense of self. A limited budget. A can-do attitude. Creativity. Respect. And without taking it all too seriously.

And, increasingly, with the rather liberating realisation that WE ARE NOT DEFINED BY OUR MISTAKES.

(All this weekend’s colour tweaks detailed below)

Wrong colour? Repaint it. Changed your mind? Change it again. Learnt something? Grown? Found fresh inspiration? Kept your horizons broad?

Let it flow. Revel in it. Grow, grow, grow. Everything you’ve liked, loved, tried and left behind has led you to here.

I hope to develop this conversation a little more, but in the meantime: please always talk good about yourself.

My interpretation of that is to be grounded enough in your own sense of self - and in what you are enjoying - to experiment, change your mind, get things wrong and keep evolving.
And in interiors? Experiment with the colour. Scrape the dregs from a sample pot when the budget is tight. Restyle the shelf. Customise the chair. Make it yours.

You can paint an IKEA kitchen - step by step 👇

We took these cupboards from white to green a couple of years ago, and it was surprisingly simple, without spending a fortune.

SAVE 📌 this for your kitchen makeover

1. Remove the doors
We took ours off ourselves and delivered them to a local spray-painting company. We also collected them afterwards – the cheapest option.

2. Leave the carcasses alone
Ours stayed white. I decided there was no need to pay to have everything sprayed in situ.

3. Hand-paint the end panels + kickboards
The spray company recommended spraying these too so the finish would match perfectly. I decided I could live with a slight difference and save the money, it’s hardly noticeable.

4. Prime first
I used Zinsser Bulls Eye primer on the end panels and kickboards.

5. Roll on your colour
I used the exact same paint as the doors, the spray company kindly gave me their leftovers. Minimum 2 coats, applied with a roller.

And that was it. This way saved a considerable amount of money and disruption. And two years later, the paint job is still standing up.

A kitchen upgrade doesn’t need to cost a fortune. Even if it’s just an interlude while you save for something more premium, paint can completely transform what you already have.

I’m really very proud

of Amy 💖

This post is to celebrate her, and all the joy we’ve found together as friends, collaborators, and part of such a supportive, creative community. Honestly, it makes me quite emotional… because it’s why I’ve held onto this account.

I used to be much more present on here - over the past year I’ve taken a step back to focus on my work as a Product Developer. But the passion hasn’t gone anywhere, I still care deeply about encouraging people to be bold and authentic in their homes, and to remember there are already millions of beautiful vintage rugs and textiles in the world, just waiting to be enjoyed.

Amy and I really grew into this colourful journey together. When we first met, she was dealing mainly in antiques - furniture and glassware - and I was creating bespoke textiles, lampshades, and sourcing rugs. When we started layering it all together, alongside our brilliant friends at something really clicked. Projects flourished, and so did the community around us 💛

Watching Amy grow in confidence with colour, especially in her own spaces, has been such a joy. Her homes and projects are the most wonderful reflection of who she is: warm, generous, welcoming, and full of personality. I’ve loved being part of that journey, sourcing textiles for her spaces, encouraging those bolder paint choices 😉, and having long chats at pop-ups, talking through ideas, dreams, and plans.

May’s feature in captures her and her home so beautifully. It’s so exciting to see Amy evolving her brand, and continuing to champion thoughtful, colourful, responsible sourcing.

I’ll be at her and next tablescaping event in London on 28th May (details in stories) even if it means taking a day off! It’ll be more than worth it to reconnect with the most brilliant community🤍.

Highland House Hunting 🏔️

A 4-day trip to the West Highlands and - unsurprisingly for us - a-lot of it was spent deciding which house we’d move into if we just stayed forever ☺️

Do you do this too? Every place we fall in love with ends with:“we could live here, you know…” But this corner of the Highlands really is the kind of place I’d move to tomorrow if life allowed it - wild views, ever-changing light, and that quiet, grounding pace. Mountains, woodlands, rivers, lochs, abundant wildlife, even white sands and clear crystal seas. I’ll share more on these wonders soon x

And the houses…Simple, thoughtful, completely in tune with the landscape. Timber cladding, soft weathered tones, traditional corrugated iron, nothing showing, just beautifully understated.

Does your TV ever feel like a bit of a black void?

Ours definitely did - pulling focus from everything else we love in the room, and the first thing your eyes land on. TVs (and sofas… but that’s for another day) have always felt like the trickiest things to make peace with. Without the budget (or patience 😬) for a full built-in, I decided to soften it… while kind of making it standout at the same time!

We added a simple shelf above (which I now can’t believe I ever removed, thank you to my husband for reinstating), mounted the TV so it floats rather than sits heavy on the cabinet, and chose the ‘Frame’ TV from so it doubles as artwork when it’s off. There are so many pieces to choose from, very satisfying.

The wall bracket has been such a win, we can pull it out for watching, or push it flat - Image 2 - so it really does feel like a piece of art.

Next step: buy the wooden frame (anything but the black plastic 😅).

Thoughts from the hallway…

With Ross and the girls off on a Dads & Daughters camping weekend (send strength for the laundry return 😅), I’m taking the chance to finally sort through the ever-growing pile of artwork that the girls create 🎨

I’ve been meaning to pick a few favourites to frame and hang up the stairs for AGES - along with some long-overdue family photos. How is it so hard to get round to printing photos these days?! Honestly, just choosing which ones to use feels like a whole job in itself… the photo abyss on my phone is real. If you’ve got any tricks for tackling it, I’m all ears.

All this has made me reflect on how glad I am that we went bold in this hallway. The ‘Brick’ walls feel so warm and grounding, especially in a space we all rush through a hundred times a day. And the idea of filling the full-height stair wall with the girls’ creations and family memories feels like the missing piece.

I’m toying with a mix of ochre, red and natural wood frames to tie it all together - what do you think?

It’s not perfect. The landing still feels a bit much under artificial light, and I do have the odd wobble about the wraparound colour… but deep down I know it’s right. We chose something that reflects us - a little daring, full of quirks, warm and welcoming 😘
