Highland House Hunting šŸ”ļø

A 4-day trip to the West Highlands and - unsurprisingly for us - a-lot of it was spent deciding which house we’d move into if we just stayed forever ā˜ŗļø

Do you do this too? Every place we fall in love with ends with:ā€œwe could live here, you knowā€¦ā€ But this corner of the Highlands really is the kind of place I’d move to tomorrow if life allowed it - wild views, ever-changing light, and that quiet, grounding pace. Mountains, woodlands, rivers, lochs, abundant wildlife, even white sands and clear crystal seas. I’ll share more on these wonders soon x

And the houses…Simple, thoughtful, completely in tune with the landscape. Timber cladding, soft weathered tones, traditional corrugated iron, nothing showing, just beautifully understated.

Join me in the Sunday daydream…Which one are you choosing? šŸ¤

Does your TV ever feel like a bit of a black void?

Ours definitely did - pulling focus from everything else we love in the room, and the first thing your eyes land on. TVs (and sofas… but that’s for another day) have always felt like the trickiest things to make peace with. Without the budget (or patience 😬) for a full built-in, I decided to soften it… while kind of making it standout at the same time!

We added a simple shelf above (which I now can’t believe I ever removed, thank you to my husband for reinstating), mounted the TV so it floats rather than sits heavy on the cabinet, and chose the ā€˜Frame’ TV from so it doubles as artwork when it’s off. There are so many pieces to choose from, very satisfying.

The wall bracket has been such a win, we can pull it out for watching, or push it flat - Image 2 - so it really does feel like a piece of art.

Next step: buy the wooden frame (anything but the black plastic šŸ˜…).

Any questions, just ask šŸ¤
Happy Easter xx

Thoughts from the hallway…

With Ross and the girls off on a Dads & Daughters camping weekend (send strength for the laundry return šŸ˜…), I’m taking the chance to finally sort through the ever-growing pile of artwork that the girls create šŸŽØ

I’ve been meaning to pick a few favourites to frame and hang up the stairs for AGES - along with some long-overdue family photos. How is it so hard to get round to printing photos these days?! Honestly, just choosing which ones to use feels like a whole job in itself… the photo abyss on my phone is real. If you’ve got any tricks for tackling it, I’m all ears.

All this has made me reflect on how glad I am that we went bold in this hallway. The ā€˜Brick’ walls feel so warm and grounding, especially in a space we all rush through a hundred times a day. And the idea of filling the full-height stair wall with the girls’ creations and family memories feels like the missing piece.

I’m toying with a mix of ochre, red and natural wood frames to tie it all together - what do you think?

It’s not perfect. The landing still feels a bit much under artificial light, and I do have the odd wobble about the wraparound colour… but deep down I know it’s right. We chose something that reflects us - a little daring, full of quirks, warm and welcoming 😘

Wishing you a lovely weekend, and if you’re knee-deep in an interior refresh, deep clean, or photo sort too, I’m right there with you! X

Turns out, the perfect green does exist!

It’s been a bit of a whirlwind lately, but I’m back - and today’s an exciting one: shoot day for a new collection of ten unique, utterly joyful kilims. I’ll be sharing more very soon, promise! Did you catch the stunner over on stories?

But first, a moment for this wall colour please šŸ’š
ā€˜Drab Green’ (not remotely drab, by the way) has become the dreamiest backdrop. While scrolling through past kilim images, I realised just how effortlessly it flatters everything, particularly textiles - pinks, earthy oranges, cooler neutrals… each one seems to sing against it. ✨

Brilliant if your home’s a bit of a joyful jumble (guilty šŸ™‹ā€ā™€ļø), or if you just want a shade that plays nicely with everything.

Can’t believe half term was a whole week ago already… June really crept up on us! What’s everyone got planned for the first full weekend of the month? Love to all x

Better Together!

This phrase has never felt more true than over the past couple of weeks.

It began with our talk at Battersea Decorative Fair: ā€˜Better Together: The Power of Collaboration Between Independent Brands’. Then came a joyful book launch, where twelve vibrant homes were brought together to celebrate colour as a universal language.

And finally, it was all wrapped up with a beautiful coming - together of people, craft, and creativity. See highlights below, it’s been a whirlwind of connection, collaboration and community! Xx

1. The beautiful book ā€˜Colourful Homes For The Soul’ by is now available, and our home is on the front cover! Thank you so much ā˜ŗļø. Even though our decor has moved on a fair bit since these shots were taken, it is very humbling to be featured alongside the most evocative and original homes.

2. Amy and me, being interviewed by the gorgeous at Battersea Decorative Fair ( event by ) - talking about the power of collaboration over competition, more will be shared on this soon. A further post and a blog šŸ™Œ

3. The super inspiring , graduates coming together with the most amazing creative ideas to heal the planet, check them out!

4. SOOO much response to my share on stories about the wind proof parasol! I should so have organised an affiliated link šŸ˜‚ Happy to share details again, comment or send a DM x

5. The low budget outdoor kitchen corner is coming along. Particularly enjoying the Marmalade Orange tongue and groove 🧔. Teamwork.

6/7/8/9. A joyful celebration of natural colour at the Edward Bulmer showroom. It was a real pleasure to hear Edward and Molly share their passion for craft during , to catch up with my lovely friends , and to see delightful Ashdown collection in person - such a treatšŸ™šŸ¼.

10. Thank you to for the style inspo with my favourite new bag from . A fab birthday pressie from 😘

A little something for you x

It’s been a short while - how are you?

I’ve been quietly busy behind the scenes, and most of the kilims from the March stock drop have now found their forever homes. But, somehow, my absolute favourite, Solis, is still here. Did you spot it? (1st, 2nd and last slide) I’d love to know what you think… maybe it’s just waiting for the right home.

To make space for the next drop, I’m offering a little May bank holiday treat: 20% off the remaining kilims. No pressure - just a gentle thank you if something’s been on your mind.

I’ve also had the loveliest messages recently from people looking for the perfect kilim for a particular space - if there’s something you’re dreaming of, let me know. What would you love to see in the next collection? Colours, shapes, sizes, I’m all ears.

Happy long weekend my friends x

You might be surprised to hear this… but yes, there’s a ā€˜white’ bedroom in this Rebel House!

Well, not bright white - more of a beautifully chalky, creamy white. So it’s allowed. Verity (11, full of ideas and not shy about them) chose the colour herself: ā€˜White Lead’ by . It’s calm, warm and just the right amount of grown-up. šŸ˜ What do you think?

Picking a single bed has made space for the important things - like sleepovers, dance moves & creating. Only the bed area is wrapped in the tongue & groove (thank you to our friend Tim for the very helpful hand!) It’s a great little trick if you love the look of a built-in, enclosed bed but not the budget that comes with it - cosy, characterful, and it protects the walls from the usual knocks & scuffs šŸ‘šŸ¼

The soft hanging headboard keeps things relaxed & informal, plus it’s reversible, which might come in handy considering the amount of art that gets made in that bed! *Sharpies* 🫣
Made by using

And to soften the space even more, we’ve added a vintage wall hanging - this one’s the Elara Tapestry. If you’d like the link, just drop a comment below and I’ll send it over. And if you’re curious to see the other sides of this room, do follow along for more creative interior tips and behind-the-scenes peeks. šŸ‘€

Actually, I’ve got four tricks to share with you to make hanging a gallery wall so much easier! šŸ™ŒšŸ¤œšŸ¼

I recently gathered all the ocean-themed art I had scattered around the house and hung them together above the sofa. It turns out, they all had a beautifully complementary theme and colour palette - and despite the beaded panelling, this was the quickest, easiest gallery wall we’ve ever put up!

The third trick was engineered by my husband, and it’s made hanging artwork across panelled walls super easy! What do you think of it? There’s nothing better than solving a problem without having to buy a new tool or gadget - right?

Here’s why this gallery wall came together so effortlessly:

✨ No stress over perfect gaps or matching heights - turns out, a little variation makes it feel more natural and effortless.

✨ The artwork already shared a similar colour scheme, which pulled everything together without overthinking it.

✨ And the best trick? Ross’ genius egg carton hack. A little DIY magic meant no faffing around with extra tools to get the frames sitting right on the panelling.

If you’ve been overthinking a gallery wall, let this be your sign - it really doesn’t have to be complicated! Save this post for when you’re ready to give it a go, and please share to give more people the confidence to have a go. šŸ–¼āœØ

The best advice I can give you? Don’t overthink it!

I’ve spent countless (wonderful) hours at pop-ups, in DMs, over email, and on the phone helping people figure out how to incorporate vintage textiles into their homes. Whether you already have a piece you love or are eyeing something from our latest drop, I’m always happy to help.

At That Rebel House, the mission is simple: to empower you to be bold, unique, and expressive with your interiors. One of the biggest barriers to hanging textiles? Not knowing where to start. But trust me - there are endless ways to make them work in your space.

This carousel is here to help you take that next step with a piece you already own. And if you’ve got any questions, drop them in the comments - I’d love to chat!

Wishing you all a ā€˜let’s go for it’ Sunday xx

Swipe through to see the journey unfold… ✨

These images span 2017–2020, ending with one of my very first lampshades from 2017. It was huge (of course). I’ve never been one to take the easy route - some things never change! šŸ˜…

Will you believe me if I say I’d never seen a frill like these on a lampshade before? It wasn’t a trend I’d noticed at the time - just something that happened in the making. And now, of course, I see them everywhere. Funny how ideas move through the world.

Most of these photos were taken on an old iPhone, long before the business had its first professional shoot. The early days were all about experimenting, refining, and watching demand grow. But as fabric lampshades became high trend and mass-produced, I stepped back from production. Still, I have such fond memories of how it all started.

Change is inevitable. Change is good.

But tell me - do any of these lampshades look familiar? Have you been here since the early days? Let’s reminisce …..

Happy Sunday all xx
