Facebook Feedback – My Experience With an Event Organiser
I feel it is important to share my experience so other traders can make informed decisions.
When I initially queried two separate cancelled events at Slaley Hall, the organiser denied any knowledge of the event until I provided written proof. I was then informed that my invoice had already been amended, despite me not having been notified of any changes beforehand.
Following this, communication from the organiser escalated unnecessarily. I was repeatedly warned that the police would be contacted, with accusations made that I was bullying or threatening her. These claims were unfounded and distressing. At no point did I bully, harass, or threaten anyone — I simply asked legitimate questions about an event and requested refunds.
During this exchange, the organiser made a sarcastic remark to me, stating “are you high again as usual?” I have never taken drugs in my life, and this comment felt like a deliberate and inappropriate dig at my mental health condition. It was offensive and wholly unprofessional.
Because of the threatening tone of the communication, I requested a refund for that event and any future events. The refund was eventually issued on the condition that I did not speak negatively about the organiser to other traders. Although this made me uncomfortable, I agreed and maintained silence.
Despite this, I was later informed that I had been removed from the organiser’s trader group and publicly named and discussed within it. I was told that claims were made that myself and my partner had threatened violence and that the police had been contacted as a result. These allegations are categorically untrue. Neither I nor my partner have ever threatened anyone, and to my knowledge, no police involvement took place.
I was also informed that my mental health was referenced publicly without my consent, portraying me as unstable and dangerous — something which is both false and deeply upsetting.
Since then, I have become aware that other traders have had similar experiences, where threats of police involvement were used in response to routine queries or disputes and framed as allegations of bullying or harassment. My concern is that these matters often occur behind closed doors, which may be why this behaviour has continued unchecked.
I did not speak publicly about this situation until discovering that my name, character, and personal information had already been shared, despite my maintaining the agreed civility- sadly she must still live in the playground.
