While looking through local archives, we came across a November 19th, 1942 article from The Angelica Advocate—written during a time of war, uncertainty, and sacrifice.

The article reminds readers that even in hardship, Americans have always found reasons to give thanks. It speaks of Washington’s proclamation of a national day of “public thanksgiving and prayer,” honoring the chance our early citizens were given to build a government that ensured their safety and happiness.

From the Revolutionary War to the homefront realities of 1942, Thanksgiving has long been a moment for gratitude, resilience, and unity.
