Lunch with the Nordics....in Edinburgh. Fascinating read from the charity shop next door. Sun is shining in Stockbridge, and the pastrami and pickles on the baked in store bread are hitting the spot.
Reading this reminds me of all of the posts over the years from and my many trips to Denmark. The first chapter has me smiling, as it sets out some of my own experiences of Copenhagen curiosities.
Mizzle. Cycle lane etiquette and my lack of it. Candles on cafe tables, without any rules like in the UK, regarding bans on naked flames inside buildings. Harbour fronts without nanny state barriers and signs like we have here, and yet no one seems to be drowning accidentally, rather stripping off and swimming with endless body positivity. Endless cake consumption without, it seems, affecting anyone's waistlines but mine. Danish TV's fascination with ten year old episodes of Call the Midwife or Midsummer Murders....which I have never watched in the UK, but which fill hours of silence when working in my hotel room.
I'll be back as soon as I can.
