Contrast is one of the things I notice first in a room.
Light against dark. Something tailored beside something softer. A polished surface next to one with texture or age.
When everything agrees too perfectly, a space can lose its energy. Often, it’s the tension between different elements that makes a room feel interesting, layered, and alive.
Over the next few posts, I’m going to break down some of those less obvious design decisions, the things you may feel in a room before you consciously notice them.
Because once you start seeing them, you start experiencing spaces differently.
