Interior Design Studio specializing in residential design. Stay tuned for more to come.........

The foundation of Kathy Waite Design is to provide our clients with the highest standards of excellence from conception to completion. After several years working in corporate Marketing and Advertising I returned to school to study Interior Design. I had the privilege to mentor under a talented Designer for several years and 3 years ago I took the leap into opening my own design studio. It has been the most thrilling, exhausting and joyful few years as I have worked with amazing clients to transform their homes into spaces that reflect their lifestyles, interest and needs. I get so much enjoyment building relationships with clients and their family members to create environments that reflect their curated lives. I hope you enjoy seeing and learning about the projects that I have been given the privilege of orchestrating.

Hi, I’m Kathy 🤍

For those of you who are new here, I’m so glad you’re here. I’m the founder and principal designer behind Kathy Waite Design, where we create homes that are thoughtful, functional, and deeply personal to the families who live in them.

My path to interior design wasn’t a straight line — I started my career in marketing and advertising after graduating from the University of Texas. But while living in Chicago, I felt called to something more creative and meaningful, which led me to study interior design and ultimately build this business.

As a mom of two, I understand how a home needs to work — not just look beautiful. That perspective shapes everything we do. My team and I collaborate closely with our clients from start to finish, guiding each decision with intention and care.

At the heart of it all, I believe your home should reflect how you live — timeless, personal, and designed to support your everyday life.

Thanks for being here and following along. ✨

September lately ✨

This month took us from Design Chicago to LaFontsee Galleries — sourcing, gathering inspiration, and finding those special pieces that make each KWD project feel unique. We love getting out of the studio, seeing what’s new, and bringing fresh ideas back to the projects we have in the works.

A little glimpse at where September took the KWD team.

The finishing touches make all the difference ✨

For our recent install, shelf styling was all about creating a collected look with a mix of art, books, objects, and pieces that feel personal to our clients. Varying scale, texture, and shape keeps each shelf interesting while still allowing the overall space to feel balanced and intentional.

It’s that final layer that makes a newly designed space truly feel like home. 🤍

A little sneak peek of our recent install ✨

It’s all in the details — beautiful materials, thoughtful finishes, and those final layers that bring a project to life. We’re sharing just a few of our favorite moments for now, but there is so much more to come from this home. 🤍

Stay tuned for the full reveal!

Lately at KWD….

08/08/2026

This is why we do what we do 🤍

There’s nothing better than opening an email from a client who is loving their newly finished lake cottage kitchen — not just because it looks beautiful, but because it has become the place where their family can relax, gather, and make memories together.

Creating homes that truly enhance the way our clients live is always the goal. Notes like this are the best reminder of just how meaningful that work can be. ✨

Dining room or Speak Easy? Which one would you choose?

We couldn’t have said it better! At KWD, we believe great design isn’t just about how a space looks — it’s about how it feels. Soft places to land, thoughtful layouts, and details that make everyday living easier all matter just as much as the finishes and furnishings. Because the best homes are the ones you can truly relax in. ✨

From scheme to reality…we love how this bedroom turned out in 💕💙

Before → During → After ✨

We love being welcomed back by repeat clients to reimagine their spaces — and this primary bedroom transformation is one of our favorites.

With beautiful lake views as the focal point, our goal was to enhance, not compete. We layered in architectural detail with added trim, and curated a gallery wall to highlight our clients’ incredible art collection.

From the first concept to the final reveal, this space now feels like a true reflection of how they live — personal, elevated, and connected to its surroundings. 🤍
