Oyez! Oyez! Are you ready for Gloucester Day?
On 5th September 1643, Gloucester stood alone and beat the King’s army after 26 days under siege, which proved to be a real turning point in the English Civil War.
To punish us, Charles II shrunk the city - so Barton elected its own MOCK MAYOR to take the mickey. That tradition was brought back in 2009 by town cryer and local legend Alan Myatt, supported by Gloucester City Council and Gloucester Civic Trust.
Expect not just one but two parades, music, stalls & re-enactors in the city centre all day.
Come celebrate the city that refused to surrender and if you're on Westgate Street, pop in to the Antiques Center and say hello!
