INSIDE THE STUDIO | Busy behind the scenes!

It’s been a busy few weeks at Sadie Pizzey Interiors, with lots happening behind the scenes as we bring some truly exciting projects to life.

From ambitious new builds to thoughtful renovations, we’re working on homes that couldn’t be more different, each with its own personality, challenges and opportunities.

Quiet Luxury. Layered & Collected. Natural Harmony.

Three very different design directions, but all sharing the same philosophy: creating exceptional homes that are as practical as they are beautiful.

Right now, our days are filled with developing concepts, refining layouts, specifying finishes, designing bespoke joinery and working closely with architects, contractors and our wonderful clients.

There’s so much that happens long before the finished photographs, and it’s often this part of the process that I love the most.

We’re looking forward to sharing more as these projects unfold. Watch this space!

Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes of a major home renovation?
This is a glimpse inside one of our detailed Scope of Works documents.
From internal layouts, lighting and electrical plans to wall elevations, bespoke joinery, staircases, doors, flooring and the finer construction details, every drawing has a purpose.
At Sadie Pizzey Interiors, our work goes far beyond choosing beautiful colours, furniture and finishes.
We consider how every space will function, how the design elements work together and how the finished interior will be brought to life on site.
The result is a comprehensive set of drawings and specifications that helps contractors understand the design intent, coordinate their work and minimise costly assumptions during construction.
Because exceptional interiors don’t happen by accident. They’re designed in the detail.
And this is just one part of our design process.

Have we met? 👋
I’m Sadie, founder of Sadie Pizzey Interiors, co-host of Milesh & Sadie: Property Talks, and, as you can probably tell from this photo, a rather enthusiastic panel member!
Because I’m nothing if not passionate about collaboration!
A little about me...
I’m an interior designer based in Surrey, specialising in high-end residential renovations and new builds. But my approach to interior design goes far beyond choosing beautiful furniture and finishes.
I’m fascinated by the entire process of creating a home, from those first conversations about layouts and how people want to live, right through to the construction details, bespoke joinery and final finishing touches.
I love the technical side of design just as much as the creative side (possibly more, but don’t tell anyone!).
Alongside running my studio, I co-host Milesh & Sadie: Property Talks, where Milesh Lakhani and I have conversations about property, design, development, business and the people behind it all.
And then there’s this... getting involved in industry events, panel discussions and bringing brilliant people together.
I’m a huge believer that the best projects happen when architects, designers, builders, developers and property professionals collaborate from the outset.
There’s so much knowledge and experience across our industry, and I genuinely love connecting people, sharing ideas and learning from others.
I suppose the common thread through everything I do is that I love property, I love design, and I really love people.
So, whether we’ve worked together, met at an event, connected through the podcast or you’ve just found yourself here, hello!

What an incredible evening! ✨
Our Creating Exceptional Homes event at the beautiful Kallums Bathrooms showroom in Guildford was such a success!
It was wonderful to bring together so many homeowners, property professionals and industry experts for an evening of inspiration, conversation and shared ideas.
A huge thank you to our fantastic panel of experts — Adam from , Jonathan and Mark from , and Jen from . Their knowledge, experience and different perspectives made for a fascinating discussion about what really goes into creating an exceptional home.
From architecture and construction to interior design and property potential, it was brilliant to explore how bringing the right experts together from the very beginning can make such a difference.
A special thank you to the team at Kallums Bathrooms for hosting us in their stunning showroom and helping to create such a memorable evening.
And of course, thank you to everyone who joined us. The conversations, enthusiasm and connections made the evening truly special.

A yoga room with a view like this
This render was created as part of Stage 2: Layouts & Conceptual Design for a very exciting current project.
Positioned right at the top of the house, we wanted to make the most of the incredible outlook and create a space that feels calm, restorative and completely removed from the rest of the home.
A dedicated yoga room, with natural materials, warm timber, concealed storage and plenty of space to practise — all orientated towards that view.
This is the stage where we start exploring not just how a space looks, but how it could feel and be used.

🚩 A red flag when choosing a contractor…
It’s not just about price or whether they can build it. It’s about how they communicate and whether they can work as part of a team.
I always welcome ideas and expertise on site — but there’s a big difference between collaboration and someone insisting their way is the only way.
A successful renovation needs the right team around it.

What actually happens after you’ve approved the design?
This is Step Four of the Sadie Pizzey Interiors process: Design Details & Specification of Work.
By this point, we know what your home is going to look and feel like. The layouts and design direction have been agreed.
Now we work out exactly how it is all going to come together.
This is where we move from the big-picture design into the detail — and there is a lot of detail.
We develop our comprehensive Specification of Work (SOW), covering everything from flooring layouts, wall and ceiling finishes and internal doors to heating, plumbing, bathrooms, kitchens, lighting, electrics, fireplaces and all those smaller decisions that can otherwise get made on site.
We’re considering questions such as:
Where exactly should that socket go?
Which way should the flooring run?
Where does one finish stop and another begin?
What height should the wall lights be?
Which radiator goes where?
What happens around the doorway?
What does the builder actually need to allow for?
Individually, they can seem like small decisions. Collectively, they are what make a beautifully designed home work.
And crucially, we want to make those decisions before construction, rather than leaving a client standing on site being asked to make them while the build is underway.
Our SOW brings all of that information together into one detailed package that can be issued to the project team, helping contractors to price more accurately, reducing assumptions and giving everyone a much clearer understanding of the intended finished result.
Because a concept tells you what a home should look like.
Step Four starts defining how we’re actually going to deliver it.

Which bar would you choose — 1, 2, 3 or 4? 🍸
We love designing home bars.
They’re one of those spaces where you can afford to be a little braver, push the boundaries and, quite frankly, let your hair down with the design.
These four bars couldn’t be more different:
1 — Bespoke cabinetry, w**e storage and a beautifully practical drinks station.
2 — A completely hidden bar, with a rather fabulous gold-leaf interior waiting behind closed doors.
3 — Dark, dramatic and sophisticated, with rich finishes, fluted glass and beautiful detailing.
4 — A render for one of our current projects in development — a statement bar designed around a backlit feature arch, layered lighting and dedicated w**e storage.
For us, a home bar should feel like a little moment of theatre. It doesn’t necessarily have to match everything around it. It can be unexpected, playful, glamorous or dramatic — while still being carefully considered around how it will actually be used.
And that’s why they’re so much fun to design.
