Our founder Mr Harry Ponsford started the company in 1893, originally selling goods from a wheelbarrow. By the 1930s the business was flourishing and the business to its location on London Road, Sheffield - the premise we still occupy today. We maintain the same principles today for the quality of product and service that was promoted by Harry in the late 19th ce
ntury. The mixture of quality furniture, furnishings and unrivalled customer service levels helped Ponsford continue to grow throughout the next 50 years. Steadily purchasing and converting more properties on London Road to expand the shop still further, encompassing today's 'classic' side of the shop. In early 2000 the Millennium building was created, increasing the shop's overall footprint to 60,000 square feet and housing the finest in modern furniture, along with the Cake Cafe. A stunning bridge was also built over Well Road to connect the two sides of the shop. In 2024, Ponsford is still a family run business and continues to provide stunning furniture, accessories, carpets and rugs, along with a number of complimentary concessions. We're proud to have been supplying the people of Sheffield, South Yorkshire and beyond for more than 130 years. We look forward to welcoming you in-store soon.
