Well it was a day to keep you on your toes! The southerly wind roared in at lunchtime and was gone again within an hour but man she packed some punch!

Result: one rather large gumtree down across the fence and totally blocking our driveway but we have some pretty awesome people in Whanganui 🤗

Beaver Tree Service were amazing from the lady on the phone who did what she could to get guys out here and then to the guys that turned up at the end of their obviously long day to cut a path so I can get out - thank you it was much appreciated ❤️

My little solar powered fountain happily bubbling away in the winter sun 🌞

Its a quiet time of year and I'm just taking the time to enjoy watching the garden and flower beds settle into winter although hints of spring are all around (check out the daffodils in the corner of the picture!)

Things will start ramping up in July as we head into rose and hydrangea pruning plus early spring seed sowing but for now its nice just to sit and watch 🌟

Today marks the first day of winter here on our flower farm. Things have slowed down a little, seedlings are in the ground, the dahlias are tucked up under their leafy blankets, and there are some hints of spring to come.

Petals by Clare will be back with fresh flowers in spring — but in the meantime, our newsletter is the best way to stay in the loop and be first to know when the season opens 💛

Hellabores ❤️ they are the first late winter early spring flower that appears in new season flower bunches alongside daffodils ❤️

Autumn isnt she beautiful 🍂 all the colours with those misty mornings and blue sky days ❤️

Its my favourite time of the year and one that allows for the hustle and bustle of summer to pass and quieten down as we all (garden included) take a little breather until spring 🌸

Its been an amazing weekend filled with all things flowers 🌼
A big thank you to everyone who bought flowers and sent messages its been a lovely way to finish the fresh flower season 🌼

Our fresh flowers and flower stand will be back in spring with a whole array of gorgeous fresh spring flowers 🌼

It'll be slightly slower pace now for a couple of months but still lots going on with sowing seeds, planting, trimming and mulching.

AND we still have dried flowers and edible flowers available 🌼 Just send me a DM if you need edibles or want vintage dried flowers.

Flowers, flowers and more flowers 🌼

Fresh and Dried flower bunches out now on the flower stand.

Plus out again tomorrow morning at 9am 🌼

We have limited amounts of flowers so be quick last year we sold out pretty quickly!

640no2 line Fordell next to the Matarawa church. If our purple flower flag is out then the stand has flowers 🌼

It was a busy weekend and week on our little flower farm:

✅️ Dahlia plant trimming started - most of mine stay in the ground so get trimmed and mulched to protect them in winter

✅️ Dahlias not wanted dug up and stored until I find a new home for them!

✅️ Majority of the spring seedlings are in the ground just one lot of statice seedlings to go

✅️ Finished summer flowers removed and beds weeded ready for mulching

✅️ Tulips planted plus freesias, anemones and dutch iris

✅️ Dried flower bunches made up for Mothers day

✅️ More edible plants sown in the edible beds (yes we have edibles all year around)

Full preparation is underway for Mothers day on Sunday and yes we will have a fully stocked flower stand out on Sunday morning 🤗

No flower stand out today BUT we will have the flower stand out for the final time this season on Sunday 10th May for Mothers day 🌼

Filled with fresh and dried flower bunches and posys plus small gifts and plants. Perfect for treating the mum figure in your life!

We are not taking pre-orders for fresh flower bunches as I simply can't guarantee how many bunches we will have available until I pick them later this week. But you can be assured the flowers on the stand will be freshly picked and locally grown 🌸

More details to come this week!

Its a beautiful blue sky autumn morning and fresh flowers are out on the stand now 🌼

Ita small amount of bunches as we almost at the end of our season and this will be the second to last weekend the stand will be out.

Final day will be Mothers day next Sunday and will do a separate post about that 🤗
