For this Sea Point bachelor’s home, we took a masculine approach: black accents, local surf photography and a custom-made surfboard bring a distinct edge to the interiors and connect the home to Cape Town’s surf community.

THE SUNSET

This is how the house got its name.

When the sun sets, the family gathers on the kitchen terrace. These are the moments that define the house and the people who fill it.

We took the colours of the sunset and made them our theme throughout this easy-going, barefoot home—designed to welcome up to 14 guests, effortlessly.

Let's collaborate!

We’ve worked with HOI P’LOY on several projects, using their lighting components to create individual fittings that feel at home in each space. There’s something very satisfying about choosing the elements, playing with combinations and seeing it all come together. And their pendants and wall lights? Firm favourites, too.

HOI P’LOY has become a trusted partner in bringing our ideas to life.

It’s a pleasure to see a South African design company grow, keep creating and build something with such a distinct point of view.

Craft meets innovation.

For our 12th anniversary and , we invited guests into our design process. Materials, textures and colour became handmade mood boards, then AI translated each composition into a spirit animal with its own name and character.

An evening exploring what happens when tactile materials, human instinct and technology come together—with wonderfully unexpected results.

SOMETHING UNEXPECTED

For our 12-year studio anniversary and the evening, we wanted to create something unexpected and exciting, using AI for what it does best.

AI is a helper for us. It makes us quicker, helps with research and opens up new possibilities. It enhances our work, but it cannot replace the feeling of finding just the right texture for a sofa, the joy of a happy client or an exciting conversation with a collaborator.

A FAMILY AFFAIR

It was a proud moment on Wednesday, during and our 12-year studio anniversary, to work alongside my husband and eldest son Jacob, welcoming friends and design lovers to our studio in Kloof Street.

I’ve been thinking a lot about legacy lately. To work and grow alongside my family and our amazing team, share our process and show them how much we love what we do is a privilege.

Thank you so much for last night, the celebration of 12 years of MY PLACE IN CAPE TOWN. We had the best time celebrating with our friends, clients, suppliers, students and associates. A big thank you to for an inspiring initiative celebrating the creativity of Cape Town.

I am often lost in the daily hustle and forget to appreciate how far we have come in the last 12 years. Last night was one to remember, leaving me feeling humble and grateful for the incredible journey we have been on. We still have so many plans and ideas, so many beautiful projects to execute, getting better and learning so much every step of the way.

Last night we presented our approach to design, a mixture of craft and technology. Each in its own place. Our guests had the opportunity to create a mood board, and we used our own AI setup to create a spirit animal based on each design, complete with a name and statement. This was incredibly well received, and everyone visiting us took part. We will share the outcomes over the next few days.

We have so much more ahead of us and are so grateful to share this with you. A big thank you for all the years of joy and for being part of living the creative dream.
