A busy and inspiring few days - The annual Design Day at The Wellington Design Library - always a great day and a chance to catch up with our wonderful suppliers and see new collections. Then off to a fabulous evening viewing stunning private art collections in Oriental Bay organised by the Nz Portrait Gallery - I cannot recommend more, becoming a Friend of The NZ Portrait Gallery. We are so lucky to have this in Wellington. Then off to Rosella for dinner - delicious! Finished the week with a presentation for a Kapiti Coast holiday home.

If you are looking for beautiful rugs, antique frames and art, don't miss this beautiful pop up - Yuva Rugs and Lavinia Frames have joined forces to open this beautiful showroom for three weeks. It's at 177 Ponsonby Road. I have bought rugs from Harriet (and previously her mother) at Yuva for years. Lavinia supplies the most beautiful frames - some from Paris - and is also showing beautiful art by her talented husband David Gibbons.

A treat to hear from these super talented creatives about their favourite objects. Great to hear fellow Wellingtonian Jessie Wong, founder of Yu Mei talk about the bag he started it all in its new version.

The right lampshade really can make all the difference.

These ones were made with the help of Shady Lady — Lee is incredible when it comes to finding the perfect frame and proportion. Yes, they can be a bit of an investment, but they’re one of those finishing touches that completely elevate a space. Very much a cost per wear situation.

The lamp base in the first image is a favourite — picked up in an antique shop in Madrid as a slightly indulgent “souvenir.” Shady Lady rewired it with a clear cord and new fitting, and it’s come up beautifully.

Absolutely loved working with this client and her family - a super busy woman wanting to update her gorgeous home. She trusted me to do just that, whilst she got on with her job running one of New Zealand's largest companies. A win/win.

This kitchen is all about keeping things simple… but getting the details right.
We worked with a really restrained palette here — soft whites, classic cabinetry, and beautiful stone. The existing timber floor was sanded and restained to bring everything back down to earth. Nothing shouty, just a calm, easy space that feels good to be in.
The skylight completely changes the mood throughout the day (one of my favourite parts), and the cabinetry was designed to feel more like part of the furniture rather than just “the kitchen”.
It’s one of those spaces that just quietly works.
Very excited that this project is a finalist in the TIDA awards 🤍
